Tails from the Deep, Grades P-2

Overview

Dive deep into a musical adventure with Tails from the Deep! Immerse yourself in songs and stories inspired by beloved musicals including The Little Mermaid and Moana. Over three magical days, develop your vocal and physical skills, build confidence, and create your own unique character inspired by underwater worlds. Enhance your improvisation abilities, acting techniques and collaborate with fellow young performers. 

Taught by our experienced NIDA Open teaching artists, explore your performance skills in this introductory course. Let your imagination swim free as you bring enchanting underwater tales to life! 

Components

  • Character Development: Develop a character for live performance through improvisation and creative play.  
  • Voice and Song: Introduction to how the voice works, exploration of fundamental singing technique.  
  • Physical Expression: Participate in exercises that promote expressive movement, physical command and spatial awareness.

  • Flights and accommodation: From time to time we may need to cancel an advertised course. Before booking flights and accommodation for travel to attend a NIDA Open course, please contact the NIDA Open office to confirm if your course will proceed as planned. NIDA does not accept liability for any associated costs of attendance or cancellation. 
  • Please ensure that you have given a valid email and mobile number as any course changes will be communicated via email or sms. 
  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in for all drama and performance related courses. Clothing that restricts movement is inappropriate.  
  • Please wear closed-in shoes. Shoes may be removed in the rehearsal room on the direction of the class tutor. 
  • Participants must provide their own lunch, including snacks and drinks.   
  • Children attending primary school grade equivalent holiday courses must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian. 
  • NIDA staff will supervise students at all times.  Students are not permitted to leave the advertised venue without parental permission. 
  • If you are running late to collect your child, please call NIDA reception on 02 9697 7600. NIDA will only provide supervision during advertised course times.
