Step into the Picture, Grades K-2

Overview

Fight the deadliest dragons, uncover precious hidden treasure, or be the grand princess at the ball in this thrilling introduction to acting for stage and screen!  

Step into the shoes of your favourite movie and TV characters and engage your imagination as you collaborate with your NIDA Open friends to create new adventures, stories and scenes for them. Present your original scenes both live and in front of the camera. 

 
Taught by NIDA Open teaching artists who bring their creative expertise to the classroom, students will build confidence and performance skills through engaging, practical exercises in this introductory acting course.  

Components

  • Characters: Experiment with vocal and physical expression to create characters for performance. 
  • Storytelling: Explore stories, character adventures and creative problem solving through group and individual improvisation. 
  • Technique: Explore the difference between performing live and acting to camera. 

Prerequisites

This course is designed for children who attend full time school (NSW K-2 equivalent). If your child is not yet attending school, please see our selection of Creative Play courses designed for pre-school children.
