Stage and Screen School, Grades 7-10

Overview

Jump into a week of stage and screen fun, where you’ll explore the art of acting in this exciting course designed for young people in Grades 7-10. Unleash your creativity with activities in improvisation, voice and movement and learn how to create unique characters in a supportive and inclusive environment. Explore text analysis to develop scene work and bring your new skills to life in an exciting on-screen performance. Showcase your stage and screen skills in live and recorded scenes to your NIDA Open friends. 

Taught by our inspiring teaching artists, this course provides opportunities for young actors to collaborate, build confidence, and discover the joy of performance. Join us for a dynamic week where imagination takes centre stage! 

Components

  • Craft: Participate in improvised scene work to develop basic acting and improvisation technique 
  • Technique: Practice acting to camera techniques. Discover the difference between live and recorded performance craft. 
  • Text interpretation: Bring to life through the application of acting technique a short, written text for live and recorded performance. 
  • Character Development: Develop and record a character from a scripted scene.
