Spoonful of Sugar: Musical Theatre, Grades 3-6

Overview

Sing from the rooftops of Edwardian London and dance through the chalk pictures of your imagination, in this engaging and exciting introduction to the world of musical theatre! 
Take your singing and storytelling skills to new heights as you learn songs from the Mary Poppins musical. Develop your vocal and physical expression, extend your acting techniques through character workshops and scene work, and create dynamic movement routines. Led by an experienced teaching artist, present a delightful short performance for family and friends at the end of this week-long course. 

Join a welcoming and collaborative environment designed to nurture young performers and experience the power of acting through song at NIDA Open! 

Components

  • Voice and Song: Learn how the voice works; develop confidence with singing techniques and performance. 
  • Acting Technique: Practice fundamental acting skills in a musical theatre performance. 
  • Rehearsal: Learn songs from the Mary Poppins musical. 
  • Performance: Apply acting, singing and movement practice to a short musical presentation.
