Screen Acting Essentials

Overview

This two-day course is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of screen acting. You’ll develop essential skills for enhancing your screen presence and develop the techniques required for rehearsing and performing  to camera under the guidance of experienced NIDA Open teaching artists. 

Throughout the course, you’ll engage in practical screen skills-based activities, shoot a short scene from film and television drama and gain valuable on-screen experience. Our teaching artists will provide feedback to help you refine your performance skills and build confidence while performing on screen. 

NIDA Open provides a supportive and encouraging environment, perfect for exploring your talents and pushing your boundaries. Join us to discover the joy of screen performance, while building a strong foundation in acting technique, at the home of Australia’s national dramatic arts school.   

Components

  • Develop on-screen personal presence and self-awareness 
  • Establish a relationship with the camera through eyeline techniques 
  • Application of Stanislavski method to short scenes 

Prerequisites

This course is classified as Beginner. No previous experience is required.
