Screen Acting 101, Grades 11-12

Overview

Immerse yourself in this engaging week-long screen acting course designed for aspiring young actors. Explore fundamental screen acting techniques including script analysis and character development under the guidance of a NIDA Open teaching artist. Develop your on-camera skills with practical exercises focused on hitting your mark, maintaining eye line and an introduction to screen testing.  

Our expert teaching artists bring their creative practice and industry experience into the classroom, ensuring you receive contemporary, skills-based training. Gain confidence and develop your on-screen presence with like-minded peers in a dynamic, inclusive environment at NIDA Open. 

Components

  • Technique: Participate in a comprehensive screen workshop to establish the technical elements for strong screen performances.   
  • Performance: Identify the given circumstances of your scene, apply actions and pinpoint your character’s objective to create engaging screen performances.  
  • Text interpretation: Bring to life through the application of NIDA acting technique a text for recorded performance.  
  • Audition Practice: Participate in simulated live auditions and screen tests.
