NIDA Audition Preparation, Grades 11-12

Overview

Prepare for success and deepen your understanding of audition technique for the NIDA Bachelor of Fine Arts, Acting Program. In this comprehensive course you’ll explore vocal and physical techniques and learn how to select, prepare and perform audition material to showcase your talents. Extend skills in character development and text analysis and understand the audition process and etiquette. Collaborate with like-minded peers and engage in dynamic creative exercises to deepen your performance skills and confidence.  

In our collaborative classrooms, you’ll be supported and encouraged to make creative choices under the guidance of experienced NIDA Open teaching artists. Join us to empower yourself with the skills to develop your audition pieces and ensure you are open and ready for the challenges of the audition process. 

Components

  • Audition Technique: Learn how to select appropriate material and develop your skills for auditioning. 
  • Vocal & Physical Technique: Explore skills for the actor to effectively prepare the voice and body for performance. 
  • Rehearsal Process: Establish reliable rehearsal technique to ensure that you can prepare with autonomy and confidence. 
  • Direction: Develop your ability to take direction and apply spontaneity to your performance.
