NIDA Acting Techniques
Overview
NIDA Acting Techniques introduces you to the core foundations of actor training and focuses on developing your ability to create believable and authentic performances. You will investigate a broad range of fundamental acting skills through interactive exercises, engage in improvisation to enhance your spontaneity and explore physicality to improve your presence on stage.
Under the guidance of a NIDA Open teaching artist, you will apply the basics of the Stanislavski system to a variety of scenes and investigate character development to enhance your ability to create authentic performances on stage. In addition, you will work on extending your vocal technique through a range of short texts and exercises, building a deeper awareness and understanding of vocal performance techniques.
Our teaching artists bring their creative practice and industry experience to the classroom to deliver contemporary skills-based training in a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Join us to discover the joy of performance, while building a strong foundation in acting technique, at the home of Australia’s national dramatic arts school.
