NIDA Acting 101, Grades 11-12

Overview

Unlock your potential in this engaging week-long acting course designed for aspiring young actors. Explore fundamental acting techniques including improvisation, voice, and movement to develop your performance skills under the guidance of a NIDA Open teaching artist. Gain an understanding of script analysis to create authentic characters and develop your stagecraft skills and confidence in a collaborative ensemble learning environment.  

Our expert teaching artists bring their creative practice and industry experience into the classroom, ensuring you receive contemporary, skills-based training. Experience the joy of acting with like-minded peers in a supportive, inclusive environment at NIDA Open. 

Components

  • Technique: Explore NIDA’s acting technique to identify the given circumstances of your scene, apply actions and pinpoint your character’s objective with ease.  
  • Text interpretation: Bring to life through the application of NIDA acting technique a text for live performance. 
  • Vocal Technique: Explore relevant exercises for the actor’s voice in performance. 
  • Character Workshop: Develop engaging characters through improvisation and rehearsal processes.
